High-Efficiency Gantry Cranes Delivered for Georgia’s Flagship Port Yard Project

On June 9th, the intermodal container yard project at the Port of Poti in Georgia, in which our company actively participated and provided two container gantry cranes, held its opening ceremony in the western Georgian port city of Poti. Guests from various countries, including Georgian Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Guram Guramishvili, Kazakh Minister of Transport Marat Karabaev, and Nasirli Hassan, Deputy Consul of the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Batumi, witnessed the official launch of this landmark project under the China-Georgia Belt and Road Initiative.
This project is the largest and most comprehensive intermodal container yard in Georgia and even in the Caucasus region. Located in the core area of Poti Port, it covers an area of 7.8 hectares. Construction includes container storage space, a dedicated area for reefer containers, nine dedicated railway lines, a customs inspection station, and supporting fire protection facilities.
The project owner stated that this yard is the largest and most comprehensive container handling center in the Caucasus region. Our company’s demonstrated professional capabilities and efficient execution are admirable, and our high-quality gantry cranes will significantly improve the yard’s cargo transshipment efficiency.
The project’s annual designed handling capacity reaches 80,000 TEUs, meeting the growing freight demand along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor. This will further improve the logistics network in the South Caucasus and Caspian regions, enhance Georgia’s transit appeal within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, and create more convenient conditions for cargo transportation in countries along the corridor. Furthermore, the project will directly drive infrastructure upgrades at the Port of Poti, creating over 300 new jobs and boosting the development of upstream and downstream industries such as logistics and trade, injecting new vitality into Georgia’s economy.
